CYBERED, INC. PARTNERS WITH QUANTUM TO OFFER WEB-BASED ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TUTORING SOFTWARE FOR SCIENCE

Chico, CA - May 16, 2006, CyberEd, Inc., a PLATO Learning Company and award winning publisher of interactive multimedia courseware for middle school, high school and college level science, announced a partnership today with Quantum Simulations, Inc., to market and distribute Quantum's Internet-based artificial intelligence Chemistry and Mathematics Tutors.

Scientifically-proven to increase test scores by as much as 50 percent, the Quantum Tutors for Chemistry and Applied Mathematics are accessed over the Internet for use anytime, anywhere. Just like working with a human tutor, students can work on any problem and receive personal feedback based on their own work. At any time during the tutoring session, students can ask for detailed explanations of each step in a problem, get hints and ask questions.

For school districts and teachers, adoption of Quantum's AI technology is very easy. Because the Tutors are web-based, there is no need for technology coordinators to install software on PCs or servers. For teachers and curriculum coordinators, the "Enter Any Problem" feature makes the Quantum Tutors compatible with any school's curriculum. No changes are required to existing lesson plans, textbooks or homework assignments.

"CyberEd, Inc. is committed to providing top-quality science curricula that helps both students and teachers in the classroom and through distance education," said Patricia Donohue, Sales & Marketing Manager for CyberEd, Inc. "With so much pressure on students to perform at higher levels in difficult subjects such as chemistry and mathematics, the Quantum Tutors are the perfect complement to our award-winning software, providing on-demand, real-time assistance in a non-threatening, non-competitive environment."

Students can access the Quantum Tutors wherever there is an Internet connection; in the classroom, at the library and, most importantly, at home where a teacher is not readily available to help or answer questions. Key features include:

  • Enter Any Problem: Unlike other software systems that only offer a limited set of problems from which to choose, the Quantum Tutors accept any problem students need to work on, making the Tutors compatible with any curriculurm.
  • Enter Your Own Work: Students can solve problems similar to how they would work them on paper. The Tutors provide individualized feedback for each step and create a transcript of all work. This helps students to understand scientific principles and improve problem solving skills.
  • Ask Questions: The Tutors create evolving lists of questions that change based on how students are approaching their problems. By teaching students to ask better questions, their knowledge of the subject greatly improves.

"CyberEd has an excellent reputation for delivering a broad range of interactive programs for science educators worldwide," commented Dr. Benny Johnson, President and CEO of Quantum Simulations, Inc. "The Quantum Tutors are proven effective and will provide CyberEd customers with a new generation of artificial intelligence technology for online tutoring and homework help."

A Virtual Tour of the Quantum Tutors is available on the CyberEd web site at www.cybered.net.
